Precise, exact, tactile measurement!

Tactile measurement is considered the most accurate method on the market. First of all, the shape is measured, in particular straightness, flatness, roundness, cylindricity as well as lines and surfaces. The combination of these elements then provides information on position, for example angles, symmetries and dimensions or even parallelism.

To do this, probes or sensors touch the component point by point. This results in the entire geometry of the test specimen. And this enables the target/actual comparison, which reveals the deviations. Tactile measurement is therefore a very precise method of measurement technology.

Application area tactile measurement

Tactile measurement is used wherever components need to be measured precisely, i.e. wherever the smallest tolerances are permitted. Tactile measurement is typically used for random or 100% quality control, for example for vehicle bodies or turbines in series measurement and capability measurement. In principle, however, it can be used universally, in numerous industries as well as in machine and tool construction.

What data is required for tactile measurement technology?

3DIMETIK can create the measuring program required for the examination of a component individually for you or, if you already have this measuring program, we can also adopt it. We can export the scan data in the file formats DXF and IGES in order to display contours in resolutions of 0.001 mm. 3DIMETIK also displays all relevant measurement results such as shape, position, surface, roundness etc. graphically.

Tactile measurements – Frequently asked questions:

How accurate is the tactile measurement?

N
C

The basic inaccuracy of our CMM (coordinate measuring machine) is 1.7µm+L. Much more important, however, is the temperature in the measuring room, which is always guaranteed and monitored by our climate control system. Our tactile measurement therefore always delivers consistently accurate results.

What component sizes are possible?

N
C

The effective measuring range for tactile measurement is XYZ 900 x 1600 x 800 mm. Depending on the component, longer parts are also possible. For larger components we recommend a GOM-3D-Scan - TRITOP measurement.

What is the dimension of the smallest button?

N
C

Our smallest test pin for tactile measurement has a ball diameter of 0.2 mm.

Can a coordinate measuring machine detect contours?

N
C

If an SP25M is used as the measuring head, contour resolutions of 0.001 mm are possible. These can also be exported as DXF or IGES file formats.
